The Sentinel brings the blessings of light to all who do the will of the gods. Capable of healing many wounded at one time, Sentinels bolster their allies and protect themselves with divine wrath.

Strengths

Sentinels are defensive clerics who excel at group support. Their divine powers aid the weak and ensure that everyone in their group lives through the fray.

Weaknesses

Sentinels sacrifice offense for a strong defense, and thus struggle to deal massive damage to their opponents.

Gameplay

In PvE Environment

During solo/questing work the Sentinel soul is more of a support soul than a main use soul. It does have some handy spells when you get into something too deep and need a quick heal or three. But no big damaging spells.

In Instance/Raid Environment

With several AOE and raid healing abilities at their disposal, the sentinel soul shines bright as one of the top healing souls for the PvE environment.

In PvP Environment

When the going gets tough, the tough gets going. Being able to switch from single target heals to AoE heals really fast makes the Sentinel soul one of the turners of the tide in a big PvP battle. You can even stay alive while someone is attacking you and still heal others at the same time, giving them time to kill your opponents attacking you.

History

Unable to reconcile the contradictions between the gods, the Elf initiate Niyol Cliffswind made a pilgrimage to Hammerknell. In the capitol of the Elves’ ancient enemies, the Dwarves, he tried to learn how Bahralt’s bustling cities could coexist with Tavril’s pristine wilderness.

His days there were a misery: jostled and berated, unable to gain audience with a priest of Bahralt. Then one night, a lynch mob pulled Niyol from his bed. “Filthy spy!” they cried, for an Elvish surprise attack had breached the city walls. Dragged toward the gibbet, Niyol heard the clamor as fighting raged through Hammerknell.

The Elf vanguard burst into the grand hall just as the hangman fitted a noose to Niyol’s neck. A moment later, the dwarf fell with an arrow in his throat, knocking Niyol off his bench. The rope drew tight.

Battle choked the Dwarven hall, yet no combatant who fought near Niyol succumbed to their wounds. Even as he swung from the noose, the initiate mouthed a healing prayer, offering his last breath to save kinfolk and persecutors alike.

White light poured from the eyes of every statue to a god in Hammerknell, the words of his prayer booming from stone lips. Anyone who saw the light was healed; everyone who heard the words succumbed to a quiet serenity.

As the Elves lay down their arms, the Dwarves cut Niyol down and declared him a saint. Both sides pledged alliance ever after, and the mendicant went on his way.

The Elf commander had heard of Niyol’s pilgrimage, and asked if he had learned how the gods could overcome their conflicts.

“Each god values the life of each and every mortal. In this, there is unity,” Niyol said with the sure, clear voice of enlightenment.

Niyol spent many years spreading his revelation, performing miracles, finding in every culture a link to the divine. When the gods formed the Vigil, Niyol’s sentinels spread hope through unity to all the people of Telara.

Righteous Burden Your Light Bold Snares the enemy, reducing their movement speed by (15/30/45)% for 8 seconds.
Light Concentration Reduces the mana cost of your healing spells by (2/4/6/8/10)%.
Shards of Light Shards of light strike the target repeatedly, dealing 41 life damage over 6 seconds.
Walk in the Light Increases the effectiveness of your Critical Heals by (1/2/3/4/5)%..
Light Efficiency Increases the effectiveness of your area effect heals by (2/4/6/8/10)%.
Swift Recovery Your Life’s Return and Breath of Life return an additional (15/30)% of the ally’s Maximum Health and increases the healing the ally receives by 10% for 30 seconds.
Luminous Grace Surrounds the enemy with a brilliant light for 15 seconds. Each time they take damage, the chance that they will be Ciritcally Hit increases by 1% per application. This effect can be stacked up to 5 times and lasts 5 seconds.
Protect the Flock Your area effect heals cause their targets to take 5% less damage for (3/6/9) seconds..
Intensity Each application of Luminous Graze effect increases the damage of Critical Hits against the target by (1/2/3)%. Requires Luminous Grace.
Healing Invocation Greatly heals a single ally for 451 to 457 health.
Embolden Increases the radius of your area effect heals by 1 meter.
Lasting Invocation Your Healing Invocation heals for an additional (10/20/30)% of its total amount over 8 seconds and increases the critical strike chance of healing abilities on the target by (3/6/9)%. Requires Healing Invocation Rank 1
Empowering Light Affixes an empowering light on the ally for 12 seconds. Whenever that ally is healed, they gain an Empowered effect, up to 5 applications. At the end of this time, the light shatters, dealing 21 Life damage for each Empowered effect to all nearby enemies. Does not trigger global cooldown.
Enraptured Breath Your Healing Breath heals 2 other party or raid members within 15 meters at (20/40/60)% effectiveness.
Serendipity When you critically hit with a heal, the cast time of your next heal is reduced by (0.5/x/x) seconds.
Shared Recovery Heals both the Cleric and the ally for 177 to 182 health.
Vested Interest Reduces the casting time of your Shared Recovery by (0.25/x) seconds. Requires Shared Recovery Rank 1.
Refreshing Communion Increases maximum health by 20% and mana regeneration by 100% for 20 seconds.

Life’s Vengeance Smite a single target for 19 to 21 Life damage. Cooldown: 10 seconds
Heroic Blessing Increases a single ally’s endurance by 20.
Healing Grace Heals the target for 44 to 47 health.
Banish Crushes the enemy with holy might, dealing 75 Life damage over 12 seconds.
Breath of the Life Brings a fallen ally back to life. This ability cannot be used while you are in combat.
Healing Communion Heals up to 10 party or raid members within 15 meters for 125 to 129 health.
Healer’s Covenant Grants the ally resistance to pain, reducing damage taken from all sources by 40% for 10 seconds. Cooldown: 1 minutes
Cleansing Prayer Relieves the ally of worldly afflications removing 2 Disease or Poison effects.
Quietus Silences a single target for 5 seconds. Cooldown: 1 minute.
Touch the Light The next life spell that the Cleric casts will become instant. Does not trigger a global cooldown. Lasts 30 seconds. Cooldown: 45 seconds.
Divine Call Spontaneously heals up to 5 party or raid members within 20 meters for 221 to 226 health.
Life’s Return Brings the fallen ally back to life and restores 20% of their health. This ability is usable in combat. Cooldown: 10 minutes.
Marked by the Light Infuses the ally with holy light. The next 5 times the ally is healed, two other nearby party or raid members will be healed for 152 to 156 health. Does not trigger a global cooldown. Can only be maintained on a single ally.
Viligance Focuses a vigilant light on the ally for 10 seconds. If the ally’s health drops below 20% during that time, they are healed for 439 to 445 health. Cooldown: 2 minutes.
Healing Benediction Channels healing energy into the target and up to 5 additional allies, healing them for 401 health per second. Cooldown: 2 minutes.
